How In-Browser QR Code Scanning Works: Zero-Upload Optical Matrix Decoding
Unlike online tools that secretly upload your sensitive screenshots, private Wi-Fi passwords, or confidential vCard contact files to third-party servers, PrivaStash decodes 2D matrices 100% inside your client-side browser engine.
Instant Clipboard Paste (`Ctrl+V`)
The #1 frustration with mobile QR codes is scanning something currently visible on your computer screen. With PrivaStash, simply take a snippet (Win+Shift+S or Cmd+Shift+4) and press Ctrl+V to decode in 40ms without pointing a phone.
100% Local Sandbox Memory
Every optical calculation runs locally in WebAssembly and HTML5 Canvas memory. Your company Wi-Fi passphrases, customer phone numbers, and internal authentication tokens never touch an API endpoint or remote database.
Adaptive Multi-Pass Recovery
Faded stickers, tilted smartphone photos, and inverted dark-mode QR codes often fail basic scanners. PrivaStash automatically applies 4-quadrant rotational alignment (90°, 180°, 270°), contrast binarization, and color inversion to recover damaged codes.
Supported 2D Matrix Optical Standards
Model 2 ISO/IEC 18004. Supports up to 7,089 numeric or 4,296 alphanumeric characters with Reed-Solomon error correction.
Single position detection pattern. Used for tiny electronics components and medical vials where physical surface area is restricted.
ISO/IEC 16022. L-shaped alignment finder. Standard for aerospace, semiconductor wafers, automotive components, and GS1 healthcare.
Bulls-eye central finder pattern. Requires no quiet margin; widely used on airline mobile boarding passes and high-speed railway tickets.
Troubleshooting: Why Isn't My QR Code Scanning?
Insufficient Quiet Zone Margin
QR specifications require a blank margin equal to 4 modules (pixels) around all 4 sides. If an image is cropped too tightly against the corner squares, the optical engine cannot establish the coordinate baseline. Leave a small border around the code.
Severe Surface Glare or Low Contrast
When scanning glossy packaging or monitors with bright studio reflections, specular highlights wash out black modules. Tilt the camera slightly (at approximately 15° to 20°) to avoid direct lens reflections.
